Toronto Blue Jays fight back 6-3 to level series against Kansas City Royals – MLB Update
Toronto Blue Jays fight back 6-3 to level series against the Kansas City Royals at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario in the second game of their four match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
Edwin Encarnacion had a decent outing as he reached on infield single to short-stop in the fourth inning and Brett Lawrie scored to bring Toronto back into the contest.
Rajai Davis also made his presence felt as he combined with Encarnacion and Yunel Escobar to level the score 3-3 in the fourth inning. However, the start of the show was Adam Lind who hit a tie breaking three run home-run in the fourth inning to give his
team momentum.
Starting pitcher Brett Cecil picked up his second win of the season, allowing three runs and five hits in six plus innings. Striking-out three and walking one, he made a useful contribution with his dipping fastballs and curveballs.
"Brett with a solid effort for us tonight," Toronto manager John Farrell said. "With the exception of the third inning, it felt like he stayed out of the middle of the plate. He mixed and matched his stuff well."
"From that point forward, I thought (Cecil) executed his pitches well," Farrell said.
Royals’ Manager Ned Yost will be extremely disappointed with the result of the game, considering the fact the Royals dominated the Blue Jays in the series opener.
Right now, they are placed fourth on the American League Central Division standings table and it will be interesting to see if the Royals can bounce back in the next game to restore some of their lost pride.
Blue Jays, on the other hand, used their home conditions brilliantly to beat their opponents in finer details of the game. There is no denying the fact John Farrell and company are one of the most talented bunch in MLB right now but their results have lacked
consistency since the start of the season. The skipper will be expecting his players to continue their excellent form during the upcoming games to build on some much needed confidence.
