Toronto Blue Jays floor Boston Red Sox 7-3 – MLB Update
Toronto Blue Jays improved their regular season record to 3-2 with a superb 7-3 win over the Boston Red Sox at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario on Tuesday, April 10 in second game of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball.
Kyle Drabek was absolutely brilliant for the Blue Jays as he allowed just one run and three hits in just over five innings to earn his first win of the season. With his sensational 1.69 ERA during the contest, Drabek caused all sorts of problems for the
Red Sox batters.
Casey Janssen had a forgettable time on the mound, giving up 2 runs and three hits in just one inning. The closer will be looking to bounce back strongly in his next regular season game.
"I should have brought in (Matt) Albers there with the bases loaded," a frustrated Valentine said. "It might have still been a 3-1 game if we get a great groundball there and maybe we would have won that game."
"He pitched good enough to win if we scored some runs," Valentine said. "Not quite the results we were looking for and I know he's a little disappointed but you take that 30 times a year, you're going to get a lot of wins out of it. I'd bet anything on that."
The Blue Jays will be very pleased to level the series at 1-1. After losing their home opener on Monday night, the Blue Jays showed great discipline and fighting spirit to floor the mighty Red Sox.
Considering the fact Blue Jays have not won the World Series title since 1993, the 2012 regular season will be of great importance for them. The fans will also love to see their team defy the odds. It will be interesting to see if the Blue Jays can live
up to all the expectations to make it to the playoffs.
The Red Sox, on the other hand, will be disappointed to let the opportunities pass by. Bobby Valentine and his men had a great chance to take a decisive 2-0 lead in the series but they were unable to execute their game plan to perfection and the Blue Jays
capitalised to battle back to keep the series alive.
