Toronto Blue Jays hammer Baltimore Orioles 9-3 – MLB Spring Training
Toronto Blue Jays secured another easy win as they hammered Baltimore Orioles 9-3 at the Florida Auto Exchange Stadium in Dunedin, Florida on Wednesday, March 28 in their Grapefruit League encounter of the 2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training Session.
The Blue Jays have looked in supreme form since the start of 2012 Spring Training. Showing great composure, determination and character, the Blue Jays dominated their opponents in almost all departments of the game that proved to be fairly one sided.
The Blue jays have not been able to make it to the playoffs over the last few years. However, if they continue their sensational run throughout the season, they will have an excellent chance to win their first World Series final since 1993.
It will be interesting to see if John Farrell and his men can overcome the likes of Detroit Tigers, St. Louis Cardinals and New York Yankees to surprise everyone in Major League Baseball.
Baltimore’s pitcher Dana Eveland had a horrible time on the mound as he struggled to throw on target. Allowing three runs and six hits in just four innings, he certainly played a big part in Orioles’ 3-9 loss against the Blue Jays. Alfredo Simon also looked out of sorts, making crucial unforced errors during the contest.
"An OK day," Eveland said. "My stuff was pretty decent. I just made some bad pitches in bad situations, mostly the pitch to Thames. Completely wrong side of the plate. It was supposed to be a fastball down and away. It ended up being a fastball down and in, and he's a pull hitter. I don't throw it hard enough throw it by somebody, so I've got to hit my spots a little better than that."
"Honestly, I can't see that I would fit into the rotation, considering this is only my third start of spring," he further added.
Eveland gave up two runs to Eric Thames in the fourth inning while Simon went for six runs in his two innings. Both Simon and Eveland will be hoping to bounce back strongly on their next MLB appearance.
