Toronto Blue Jays hammer Philadelphia Phillies 10-2 – MLB Spring Training

Toronto Blue Jays hammered Philadelphia Phillies 10-2 at the Florida Auto Exchange Stadium in Dunedin, Florida in their Grapefruit League encounter of the 2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training Session.
The Jays haven’t won the American League East division title since 1993. A couple of decades ago, the Jays were one of the strongest teams in American League. However, with the passage of time, it seems the Jays have lost their way.
Having made a sensational start to their Spring Training campaign, the Jays will now be hoping to maintain their impressive form throughout 2012 season to build their confidence. It will be interesting to see if the Jays can defy the odds to cheer up their
fans.
Jose Bautista and Yan Gomes displayed some high quality hitting skills for Toronto as they both drove in three runs. Brett Cecil was leader of the pitchers’ pack, allowing just one run and four hits over four innings pitched to put immense pressure on the
Phillies.
"It's all about fine-tuning now, to be able to throw all of your pitches where you want to," Hamels said. "It's nice to know you can go out there and be free and easy and build up the arm strength that you have to have. I feel I'm getting there."
"Even setting aside the number of quality at-bats, it was good to see us also manufacture some runs," Farrell said. "A hit and run by Rajai Davis, a safety squeeze by Mike McCoy. Some of the things that we haven't really called upon too much this spring."
Philadelphia Phillies, on the other hand, will be extremely disappointed with the way they played in a completely one sided contest. Philadelphia’s reliever Jose Contreras managed to get only one out in Toronto’s five runs sixth innings.
It will not be wrong to say that the Phillies were outclassed in almost all aspects of the game. With just seven wins in 16 spring games, the Phillies will have to work really hard to get things back on track. Phillies’ fans will be eager to see their team
do well in the upcoming games.
