Toronto Blue Jays humble Baltimore Orioles 13-5 – MLB news
Toronto Blue Jays secured a massive 13-5 win against the inform Baltimore Orioles at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario on Sunday, June 23 in the finale of their three match series of the 2013 Major League Baseball regular season
With their win against the Orioles, the Blue Jays improved their record to 38-36. Right now, the Blue Jays are placed fourth on the American League East Division standings table but things can change very quickly if they can extend their marvellous winning
streak.
The Blue Jays started the season on a very poor note but they have raised their game play considerably with each passing day. It will be interesting to see if they can shut their critics by making it to the playoffs. Starting pitcher Josh Johnson played
a key role in deciding the outcome of the clash as he allowed just seven hits and four runs in six solid innings to grab his first win of the season.
“I've been waiting for this since the season started,” Encarnacion said. “I believe in this team so I knew things had to change, things had to become good for us. That's the way right now and we enjoy it, enjoy the moment. I'm not surprised by this. I know
this team is good and I know we can do it.”
“A lot of guys have been in a good rhythm at the same time, which is kind of what we didn't have to start the season,” catcher J.P. Arencibia said.
Relief pitcher Aaron Loup, Juan Perez and Dustin McGowan all made useful contributions as they combined to pitch effective innings of relief, helping Toronto hold on to an eight run lead. For the Orioles, starter Freddy Garcia paid the ultimate price for
his errors on the mound as he conceded seven hits and seven runs in just over two innings to suffer his fifth loss of the season. It will be interesting to see if Garcia can learn from his mistakes to turn things around on his next appearance. Colby Rasmus,
Edwin Encarnacion and Melky Cabrera drove in crucial runs for the Blue Jays.
