Toronto Blue Jays humbled by Tampa Bay Rays 4-9 – MLB Update
Toronto Blue Jays lost to Tampa Bay Rays 4-9 at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario on Thursday, April 19 in the finale of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball. The win will be of great importance for the Rays who have now improved
their regular season record to 7-6.
Toronto’s manager John Farrell and his men seemed to be struggling in almost all departments of the game as they lost yet another series in front of their home crowd. It will be interesting to see if Toronto can turn things around in their favour to win
the first World Series title since 1993.
For the Rays, Evan Longoria played a decisive role as he drove in two runs. Adam Lind also put up a solid show as he doubled in the first and J.P. Arencibia scored off Sean Rodriguez’s throwing error in the fourth.
"That was very challenging," Pena said. "We had a couple of opening days, a bunch of day games. It was a challenge to get your rest, get your preparation routine in line. We held our own and we get back home with positive momentum on our side and something
to build from."
"It's been a difficult schedule," Maddon said. "I'm really proud of the way our guys have fought through it."
"It short-hopped me, and the hardest ball to catch in baseball is a short hop," Arencibia said. "Not only did it short-hop me, it short-hopped me and hopped up."
After making a strong start to their 2012 campaign, they Rays had experienced a huge dip in their form. However, their dominance over the Blue Jays in the last few days is a clear sign of growing improvement in their game play.
Joe Maddon and company will be hoping to maintain their excellent form throughout the season to give themselves a chance of making to the World Series finals this season.
The Blue Jays will be disappointed with the way they have been outplayed in their last few games. They were the most successful team of 2012 Spring Training Session but they have not been able to live up to the expectations during the regular season.
