Toronto Blue Jays humiliate Minnesota Twins 13-3 – MLB Update
J.P. Arencibia struck two home runs and forced five runs in the Toronto Blue Jays’ 13-3 victory against the Minnesota Twins at Rogers Centre, Toronto on April 1.
Adam Lind and Jose Bautista also played their vital role in the Blue Jays’ win. Many hitters of the Blue Jays struck homers in their play. Arencibia knocked a two-run shot to centre position in the fourth inning, then made triple runs in the fifth inning
and hammered a go-ahead shot in the eighth inning. He ended with three runs for four at-bats and put a career high RBI score.
Arencibia expressed his excitement and said, “I really feel like the team is excited about what's going on here. That was the biggest thing for me. I had so much fun playing behind these guys. Everyone from top to bottom had a great game.”
The Blue Jays did not stop Bautista’s powerful shots as he went nonstop with Lind in the fifth inning. Bautista made a walk before the hit of Lind, as he is also considered to be a swaying home-run emperor because he led the Major Leagues with 257 homers
during 2010. Carlos Villanueva ended for the Blue Jays while Jason Frasor made runs in the eighth inning.
Yunel Escobar and Rajai Davis made singles while Edwin Encarnacion and Aaron Hill led the inning by scoring the last run and sacrifice flies after the fault of Tsuyoshi Nishioka on Travis Snider's hard throw to second base.
The Blue Jays’ starter Romero had 3-0 win with an ERA of 2.48 in four baseball starts against the Twins. He permitted just one earned run, six hits and three runs in over six innings. He struck-out seven hitters and did not give up any walk.
Carl Pavano, the starter for the Twins, gave up three home-runs, seven earned runs with eight runs on six hits over four innings. He struck-out three batters and provided two walks. The Blue Jays hit four runs in the first inning to Pavano.
The Twins’ hitter Justin Morneau played his first game after the season-finishing injury during the mid of the last year. He did not make any runs in four hits, but struck a double play.
After losing the game, the Twins’ manager Ron Gardenhire said, “We didn't follow the plan very well pitching. They swing the bats and if you keep throwing the ball out over the plate they're going to kill you. We didn't play good defense. It was just a bad
night all the way around.”
Jeff Manship was a substitute for Pavano before Juan Rivera made a triple to centre-field. Nishioka hit a single to left-field against Romero in the sixth inning.
