Toronto Blue Jays humiliated by Miami Marlins 0-9 at Marlins Park – MLB Update
Toronto Blue Jays were humiliated by Miami Marlins 0-9 at Marlins Park in Miami, FL on Sunday, June 24 in the finale of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
John Buck displayed some top quality hitting skills for the Marlins in a game that proved to be completely one sided. Hitting a mighty three run home run in the second inning, Buck put his side 4-0 ahead. With pressure on the Blue Jays, the hitters continued to add more runs.
Greg Dobbs homered to right in the sixth inning to extend Marlins’ lead to 6-0 and third baseman Hanley Ramirez tripled to deep right centre in the seventh to force deny the Blue Jays any chance of coming back into the contest.
Starting pitcher Mark Buehrle pitched effectively into the seventh inning, giving up seven hits and striking out seven.
"It's great to see that especially when they have a players' meeting," Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen said. "I don't think it happened because of the meeting, but when you have a players' meeting and you act and play this way, that is something that is very positive. It's nice to see those guys having fun on the field."
"It was a disappointing way to end this series, yet it's a series win on the road and we have to regroup and get ready to go into Boston," Blue Jays manager John Farrell said in a post game interview.
Taking a forgettable loss at the hands of Miami, the Blue Jays have now moved to the bottom of the American League East Division standings with 37-35 record.
Manager John Farrell will be very disappointed at seeing his team going down like nine pins on Sunday evening. The offence blew away several easy scoring opportunities as the Marlins shutout Toronto to secure an easy victory.
After getting hammered in the first two games of the series, the Marlins were hoping to restore some of the lost pride in the finale. The bullpen rose to the occasion to help Miami avoid a series sweep in front of their home crowd.
