Toronto Blue Jays humiliated by Milwaukee Brewers 3-8 at Miller Park – MLB Update
Toronto Blue Jays were humiliated by Milwaukee Brewers 3-8 at Miller Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Wednesday, June 20 in the finale of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
Edwin Encarnacion continued his impressive hitting form as he homered to centre in the second inning to give his side a perfect start. Corey Hart hit a solo home run for the Brewers in the second to level score 1-1.
Martin Maldonado and Carlos Gomez hit two of four Milwaukee’s home runs as the Brewers took a commanding 6-1 lead in the fifth inning. Ryan Braun added a two run home run in the seventh to deny Toronto any chance of coming back into the contest.
Brewers’ starting pitcher Yovani Gallardo provided his team with the kind of start they needed, pitching effectively into the seventh inning. He allowed just three runs and seven hits with two walks to improve to 6-5 this season.
"It's not the ideal situation when you have to take an overnight flight in here," Blue Jays manager John Farrell said. "That's the circumstances we're in. We're not going to use that as an excuse. It's not the ideal situation."
"Yovani, huge game for us," Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said. "We were really thin in the bullpen today, and we really needed the length from him. And he also threw a great ballgame."
Despite having the winning momentum on their side, the Blue Jays were unable to come through on Wednesday evening and Milwaukee secured a comfortable 8-3 win to wrap up the series.
Jose Bautista and Colby Rasmus, who were absolutely outstanding in game two of the series, were unable to make the most of available opportunities as Toronto managed to put just three runs on the board.
Milwaukee, on the other hand, took complete advantage of their home conditions and Blue Jays’ unforced errors.
They are now six games behind National League Central Division leaders Cincinnati Reds and it will be interesting to see if they can continue their impressive form to replace the Reds at the top of the standings table.
