Toronto Blue Jays lose to Chicago White Sox 3-4 – MLB Update
Toronto Blue Jays were beaten by American League Central Division leaders Chicago White Sox 3-4 at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago, Illinois on Thursday, June 7 in the finale of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
Orlando Hudson will be very pleased with the way he ended the game for the White Sox. The hitter had a wild time at third base but he made up for that by driving in the winning run with two outs in the ninth inning and the Chicago White Sox edged the Blue
Jays to avoid series sweep.
Hudson, who has played second base throughout his MLB career, was forced to play third base after being acquired from San Diego Padres in May. It will be interesting to see if he can live up to the challenging expectations of his newly assigned position.
"He's been playing great," Ventura said about Rios. "He's battling every time he goes up there and I'm happy for him. He feels confident and we wouldn't be in this situation without him, either."
"When I signed over here, (general manager) Kenny (Williams), he didn't say we're hoping you can play, he told me you're going to play third base," Hudson said in a post game interview. "It's a big lift, anybody getting a walk-off win in the bottom of the
ninth."
"The boys just battled and that's the M.O. of this team," Chicago’s starter Peavy said. "It could have got ugly early."
Alex Rios provided Chicago with a decent start with a safe at first on a throwing error by third baseman. Mike McCoy helped the Blue Jays give an immediate response as he singled to left in the second inning that made the score 2-1. Toronto’s third baseman
Brett Lawrie grounded into fielder choice to shortstop and J.P Arencibia scored on an error by Alexei Ramirez.
Rios produced a match winning performance as he hit a home run to left in the sixth inning to level score at 3-3 and then Hudson earned an RBI single to centre in the ninth to seal an emphatic win for the White Sox.
