Toronto Blue Jays lose to Los Angeles Angels 6-10 at Rogers Centre – MLB Update
Toronto Blue Jays lost to Los Angeles Angels 6-10 at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario on Sunday, July 1 in the finale of their four game series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
Jose Bautista had another decent outing as he earned an RBI groundout into fielder’s choice to second in the sixth inning to put the Blue Jays on the board. J.P. Arencibia also displayed some top quality hitting skills under pressure as he homered to left
in the seventh inning to help his side level the score 3-3.
Angels’ rookie Mike Trout had one of the best outings of his career as he hit a tie breaking home-run in the eighth and Mark Trumbo connected for a two run shot to provide the Angels with momentum. Torii Hunter and Albert Pujols drove in crucial runs in
the bottom of the ninth to help Los Angeles take an impassable 10-3 lead.
"I think our team showed a lot of character this afternoon," manager Mike Scioscia said. "It was a good win."
"That was a huge situation in the game," Trumbo said of the youngster Trout. "Great two-strike approach, stayed short, got a hanging slider and totally shifted the momentum back in our favor. It came at just the right time."
"I couldn't tell what he was trying to say," Brett Lawrie said. "He was directing it at me but I didn't know what he was trying to say. I couldn't read his lips."
With their win against the Blue Jays on Sunday evening, the Angles managed to stay within touching distance of American League West Division leaders, the Texas Rangers. With a decent 44-35 win-loss record, Los Angeles is placed second on the League standings
right now.
It will be interesting to see if they can bring some more consistency in their results to replace the Rangers at the top of the table to make it to the post-season.
Toronto, on the other hand, looked a bit out of sorts in the finale. Manager John Farrell will be extremely disappointed with the outcome of the series. The Blue Jays will be looking to improve their performance and become more competitive in their next
series.
