Toronto Blue Jays lose to Washington Nationals 3-6 – MLB Recap
The Toronto Blue Jays lost to Washington Nationals 3-6 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Monday, June 11 at Rogers Centre in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
The Nationals, who were coming with three-match clean sweep over the Boston Red Sox, also displayed their tremendous talent and clinched the game away in style.
Right fielder Bryce Harper played exceptionally well for the Nationals and gave his team real confidence to play aggrieve even when they under pressure. He made two runs in three hits along with one RBI.
"Just an unbelievable performance, He had everything working for him, his fastball was good, his curveball, his changeup. He was really effective tonight." Harper said later in the game with complete details of his tremendous play which won the game for
the Nationals.
Starter Edwin Jackson on the other hand, also contributed in Nationals’ win with his eight innings’ tremendous spell and received two runs only. He struck out three and maintained his 3.02 ERA.
"Pretty much what I was thinking, he was thinking, That always helps when the pitcher and the catcher are both on the same mind frame. I just kept it going, just tried to speed the pace of the game up. No question about it, everybody is trying to outdo the
other guy, There's some awful good games I'm seeing pitched against some awfully good clubs. It's fun." Jackson said later in the game with confidence.
Overall, the game was played on high pace. The Blue Jays’ despite making first run in the very inning, could not do much later in the innings and lost bitterly in the end.
Now the defeat could cost the Blue Jays out of post season qualification race. They are currently not showing their natural game and standing at fourth position in the American League East with 31-30 win-loss record along with .508 winning percentage.
Experts also believe that they need minimum of .600 to qualify for the post season but the way Blue Jays’ are playing, it does not look apparent that they will achieve .600 winning percentage.
