Toronto Blue Jays outclass Detroit Tigers 8-6 – MLB Recap
The Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Detroit Tigers 8-6 on Wednesday at Comerica Park in Detroit, Michigan in the second game of their three-match regular series.
Toronto Blue Jays’ entire roster played wonderfully and thrashed the Tigers with ease. Their batters and pitchers all performed brilliantly and won the game in style.
"No reason to panic, but when you see it slipping away in the fifth or sixth inning, it was nice for the bats to come alive," said Mark DeRosa, whose pinch-hit double in the sixth got the comeback started. "We obviously didn't get off to the start we wanted
to, but we fought."
Left fielder Melky Cabrera showed his class as he scored two runs on two hits. He came to bat four times and maintained his slugging percentage at .344.
Right fielder Jose Bautista also played well as he scored two runs on his four at bats. He was not only brilliant on the plate but he also did a very good job in the field.
First baseman Edwin Encarnacion also contributed with his bat as he scored two runs on two hits. He also ran for an RBI while his slugging percentage remained quite consistent at .290.
"It was nice to finally get a few hits and walks and guys grinding out at-bats, and string it all in the same inning," J.P. Arencibia said in detail. "To score, you need to be able to do that collectively in an inning."
Not only just batters, but the Blue Jays’ offensive pitchers also showed their class as they never gave too many chances to the Tigers to score.
Mark Buehrle started the game for the Blue Jays as he pitched 4.1 innings and received six runs and seven hits on his 10.24 ERA.
Other than Buehrle, the Blue Jays’ entire pitching lineup showed true offensive class and won the game for their team.
Relief pitcher Steve Delabar pitched 0.2 innings and received only one hit. Later, all the Blue Jays closers also did a very good job and won the game for their team. The Blue Jays are looking good and it will be interesting to see if they can carry their
winning momentum forward.
