Toronto Blue Jays’ outfielder Jose Bautista shows optimism on team’s leadership – MLB News
When some newspapers in Toronto criticised the leadership of the Blue Jays, outfielder Jose Bautista came forward and defended this new debate.
He explained in public that those who are saying that the Blue Jays’ leadership has not handled some affairs properly are wrong and do not understand the complexity of handling things at the upper level.
“I really don’t understand why everyone is making a big deal of this subject, It’s not something that needs to be addressed in our clubhouse. We have leadership on the players’ side, on the manager’s side, and on the owner’s side, so we don’t need any extra or additional leadership,” Bautista said.
Later Blue Jays' team manager John Farrell told the media and agreed with Bautista’s thoughts as he said, “I see that void, there are plenty of opportunities for guys in our uniform to lead and there needs to be an acceptance of that and a willingness to demonstrate that. I think it’s paramount that every player in uniform take ownership for the team on which they play.”
Bautista was also hard on the media that despite showing relatively good performance in the season, their current manager John Farrell fears a potential job loss.
According to another news, the Blue Jays' manager John Farrell is also on the firing list. His performance in the regular season was quite poor as Blue Jays finished fourth in the American League East.
Meanwhile, the Boston Red Sox are already showing great interest to sign Farrell. They recently fired their skipper Bobby Valentine due to the poor performance of the team and now want to bring Farrell in the franchise.
Bautista on the other hand, is still showing optimism and saying Farrell will be their manager for next couple of seasons. According to him, the leadership quality in the team is very good but it also important for the players to take the responsibility for poor performances.
Bautista’s stats which remained quite consistent in the regular season, still believes that his own performance also needs a fresh start in the next Major League outing. He finished with .241 hitting average along with 27 home-runs and 65 RBIs.
