Toronto Blue Jays overcome Baltimore Orioles 8-6 – MLB Update
Toronto Blue Jays continued to find winning ways against Baltimore Orioles as they clinched a narrow 8-6 win at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario on Tuesday, May 29 in the second game of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular
season.
The Blue Jays will be very happy with their performance in the first two games of this series. After receiving a hammering at the hands of Texas Rangers in their previous series, it was extremely important for them to put things back on the right track.
Orioles made an excellent start with Adam Jones hitting a huge home run to right in the second inning to give his side a 1-0 advantage. For the Blue Jays, Rajai Davis produced a clinical performance as he reached on bunt single to pitcher in the third to
level score 1-1.
Yunel Escobar also displayed some top quality hitting skills but the star of the show was Brett Lawrie who earned three hits and three RBI’s to play a key role in deciding the outcome of the clash. David Cooper, DaviS and Lawrie put the Orioles under immense
pressure in the fourth and the fifth as Toronto took an impassable 8-1 lead.
"We need this salvage win," Jones said in a post game interview. "We need a win big."
"The biggest thing for me was I thought he stayed behind the baseball," Farrell said. "That's the first time in a while he's driven some balls, some fastballs that were up and away from him driven the other way."
"I don't care what I've heard about his last start or his previous 40 starts," Jones said of Romero. "The guy is nasty every time he takes the mound."
Mark Reynolds grounded out to third in the sixth to keep the Orioles’ hopes alive. Chris Davis and Adam Jones had home run each in closing stages of the game but Toronto held on to their lead to secure an emphatic win. Credit must also be given to Toronto’s
starting pitcher Ricky Romero who created all sorts of problems for the Orioles to win for the seventh time in just nine starts.
