Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Ricky Romero undergoes elbow surgery – MLB Update
Toronto Blue Jays' pitcher Ricky Romero finally received a procedure on his left elbow after suffering for almost the entire 2012 Major League Baseball season.
The Blue Jays management officially declared that their three-year veteran pitcher had arthroscopic surgery two weeks ago which was needed to clean up scar tissue in his left elbow.
Romero despite having elbow stiffness throughout the season had played most of the games for the Blue Jays. The team doctors, who have already told Romero that he might need a surgery in this offseason, are now showing their concerns that this surgery should have undergone during the season.
“Did it have any impact? I will never know, but I’m not going to make any excuses about the bad year, I stunk and that’s it. I felt like with rest — you know, me just trying to be my own doctor — I was like, ‘I’m sure with rest I’m going to be fine, the pain. You’re going to have to chop (off) my left arm for me to not take the mound,” Romero said in a conference call with reporters and told them certain details about his procedure.
He added with more details and explained about his surgery and rehabilitation process, “With everything that piled up this year I just wanted to keep taking the ball get out of my own mess, If there’s anything to learn from this.”
Ricky Romero finished 2012 Major League season achieving 5.77 ERA along with 9-14 win-loss, 124 strike-outs and 1.67 WHIP.
Though these results are quite poor still many baseball experts think that he played with much ambition. Despite carrying a major injury, he still played and and did not show any signs which could have put the Blue Jays in any emergency situation.
His overall three-year career has also brought him among the leading pitchers in the Major League. Romero’s career ERA is also consistent at 4.09 along with 51-43 win-loss, 617 strike-outs, 1.39 WHIP.
Meanwhile, this is a very good thing that Blue Jays pitcher will be pitching next season completely fit which will ultimately help them achieve persistence in their plays.
