Toronto Blue Jays receive a 12-6 hammering from Texas Rangers – MLB Update
Toronto Blue Jays received a 12-6 hammering at the hands of Texas Rangers at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas on Sunday, May 27 in the finale of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
Starting pitcher Yu Darvish will be very pleased to win for the seventh time this season. According to sources, Darvish was not feeling well before the start of the game due to sore lower back.
Showing great composure on the mound, the starter breezed through his first two innings and allowed three runs in the next three before he was pulled off.
Darvish will be happy to have his 100th combined win in Japan and United States after allowing five runs and career high six walks in four innings in a loss to Seattle Mariners.
Leaders of the American League West division, Texas looked to attack their opponents right from the start of the contest to take 7-0 lead in the second inning. Jose Bautista grounded into fielder’s choice to third in the third inning to score the first run for Toronto.
J.P. Arencibia homered to left in the fourth and then Edwin Encarnacion earned an RBI single to reduce the deficit to 3-9. Arencibia hit his second home run in the eighth and Cody Rasmus homered to right in the ninth but the Rangers secured a comfortable 12-6 win to complete their series sweep.
Toronto’s starting pitcher Kyle Drabek had forgettable time on the mound as he gave up career high nine runs in just three innings, losing to Darvish for the second straight time.
"I did tell the coaches that I wasn't feeling good," Darvish said using a translator. "I could have gone six or seven innings. In the end, the manager made the decision to stop me."
"I'm not looking at it as an injury," Darvish further added. "I feel comfortable saying that I should be able to treat this and be ready for my next start."
Rangers took complete advantage of their home conditions throughout the series, dominating the Blue Jays in all aspects of the game. The bruising Texas lineup created all sorts of problems for Toront to establish complete control over the contest.
