Toronto Blue Jays second baseman Kelly Johnson starts well – MLB News
The Toronto Blue Jays’ second baseman Kelly Johnson is having a perfect outing in the fresh Major League Baseball season with a hitting average of .238 along with three home-runs, six RBIs and .347 OBP.
Johnson recently explained about his game and the way he is putting hard work to play consistently. He said, “It's early, and what I've been saying most of my career is where ever I fit in doesn't matter, as long as I do what I think I'm capable of, I want
to zero in and be a selective hitter, and be focused enough to not swing at a pitch if it's not my pitch."
Johnson added, "Hitting first or second suits me, maybe seeing more pitches or walks, but really, I try not to do anything other than what makes me successful, Home runs for me don't happen because I feel good and then go out and try to swing harder.”
Blue Jays are also appreciating the fact that Johnson and Edwin Encarnacion are carrying the offence. Especially Johnson, who is coming with relatively good Spring Training, also knows his game well.
He is playing with the Blue Jays since 2011 as he was traded from Arizona Diamondbacks spending the whole 2010 season with them. Though in the start, he had to face a slightly difficult playing environment with the Blue Jays. The Diamondbacks play a full
defensive game while the Toronto based baseball franchise likes to play aggressive and that was the main reason Johnson took some time to adjust in the roster.
His performance in 2011 was also not up-to the mark as he gained his real thrust late down the stretch in regular series leaving the Blue Jays top management in bitter despair. They earlier stated in the media that the former Atlanta Braves and Diamondbacks’
ace player will be playing a key role for them.
This is good sign that Kelly Johnson is playing well at the moment. His team needs his offensive game and if he remained consistent in the coming days, the Blue Jays will finish somewhere top at the mid season break.
