Toronto Blue Jays show great optimism for acquiring Yu Darvish – MLB News
The Toronto Blue Jays are currently in hot pursuit of acquiring Japanese young sensation, Yu Darvish from his club in Japan, the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters. Recently, all the Major League teams have failed to bid for Darvish on time and now his fate to
play for an American owned franchise is in the hands of his Japanese club. However, despite the delay, the Blue Jays are very optimistic to acquire him.
The Blue Jays management has recently commented in the media that their executives are preparing to visit Japan, especially Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters to convince them for a potential trade and any deal that will ensure the arrival of Darvish into the
Blue Jays franchise in 2012.
Joe Girardi, who is currently managing the New York Yankees, while speaking about Darvish’s game and his huge talent said, “[Darvish] is a young man with huge talent out of Japan that we know has a lot of talent, Whenever the Yankees have a chance to get
better next season, and we investigate all of our leads to get him. He's someone that we have followed closely, and we'll see what happens.”
Earlier, on Thursday, the Blue Jays have made a hidden offer of $40 million for Darvish but this offer did not go public and just involved the two teams. When some sources received this information of the Blue Jays’s offer to the Ham Fighters, they not only
reported in the media immediately but they also said this offer could go up-to $50 million if the Ham Fighters resisted accepting this offer.
A young Japanese pitcher with huge extraordinary talent, Yu Darvish acclaimed fame in 2009 when he led his national team to win the World Classic Baseball Championship. His extraordinary pitching stood tall against the giants of baseball world.
After the competition, many US baseball franchise’s including the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Indians, Chicago White Sox, New York Mets, Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Texas, Rangers, Detroit Tigers and the St. Louis Cardinals
started pursuing Darvish, but his Japanese club did not waive him off.
