Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Drew Hutchison goes on to DL – MLB Update
The Toronto Blue Jays pitching misery continues as their starting pitcher Drew Hutchison has been put on to disabled list due to a sprained ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow.
With the competition gets more apparent towards its finalisation of post season qualifying teams, the Jays are facing more complex situation with their rookie starter’s latest injury which has sent him onto 15 day disabled list.
“We performed an exorcism on the mound last night, and rebuilt it,” the Toronto Blue Jays manager said on Saturday. “Maybe it’s in the dirt out there, I don’t know. It’s pretty amazing.”
Later Hutchison said of his injury and the approximate time he needs to return on the field, “It just didn’t feel right, I didn’t want to be stupid, so I called for help. It’s not ideal, you know, after seeing everything that’s gone on, it’s tough. Our team’s
in a tough spot, you want to go out and help shoulder that weight any way you can,”
This is not the first time that any particular Blue Jays’ pitcher has been put onto DL instead the Toronto side is facing similar issues with their two other starters as well.
Starting pitcher Brandon Morrow with a strained left oblique muscle and Kyle Drabek with tearing his UCL also serving their 15 day DL time.
In the meanwhile, with another context, this is healthy sign regarding Hutchison’s injury that recently the Blue Jays manager Farrell has explained in detail about the rookie starter’s injury is less severe than other two starters.
He also explained in the media that both his starters will need a potential procedure instead Hutchison just needs to rest for two weeks’ time. He added with confidence that the Blue Jays’ team doctors are already taking care of young starter and if things
went alright, the good results will certainly come to rescue his and their team’s current position in American League East Division.
Hutchison is a good player and before getting injured, he was playing quite well with his consistent and offensive 4.60 ERA along with 5-3 win-loss, 49 strikeouts and 1.35 WHIP total 11 starts.
