Toronto Blue Jays surprise Texas Rangers 8-7 – MLB Update
Toronto Blue Jays surprised Texas Rangers with a superb fight back 8-7 at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario in game two of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season. With their win over the Rangers on Tuesday evening,
the Blue Jays also improved their win-loss record to 13-11.
For the Rangers, Alberto Gonzalez, David Murphy, Mitch Moreland and Mike Napoli showed great character and temperament as they provided their team with a perfect start. Ian Kinsler and Elvis also made useful contributions to help Texas take 5-0 lead in the
second.
Toronto showed great determination and mental strength to reduce the deficit to 5-4 in the third, thanks to Kelly Johnson and Jose Bautista who homered into the left to keep their team in the hunt.
Rangers added one more run to lead the score 6-4 but Toronto’s striker Yunel Escobar and Eric Thames and Johnson took complete advantage of Mike Adams’ unforced errors and Brett Lawrie hit the winning home run in the ninth to stun the Rangers.
"I've never seen two of them," Washington said. "Guess (the Blue Jays) know their ballpark pretty good."
"It shows a lot about this team and the heart that we have," Lawrie said. "We're not going to quit until the end."
"We just didn't execute defensively," Washington said. "It's the first time we haven't executed defensively and they took advantage of it."
"I don't really know how to explain it," Napoli said. "It was just something weird that was happening with my eye. It went away. I can see fine now. I'm going to go see a doctor."
John Farrell and company have displayed some high quality baseball skills in the last couple of weeks and they will be hoping to take their incredible form into the finale to earn another important series victory.
With momentum on their side, the Blue Jays are certainly the favourites to win this series. However, considering the depth and quality in Rangers’ hitting and pitching lineups, it is tough to accurately predict the result.
