Toronto Blue Jays thrash Kansas City Royals 5-3 – MLB Update
Toronto Blue Jays thrashed Kansas City Royals 5-3 at the Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri on Sunday, April 22 in their regular season encounter of the 2012 Major League Baseball. With their win over the Royals on Sunday evening, the Blue Jays took
an impassable 3-0 lead in the series.
For Toronto, Ricky Romero was the star of the show as he won for the third straight time to set up an easy win for his team. Brett Lawrie hit a solo home run, driving in two runs to play a key role in deciding the outcome of the clash.
"He was efficient with his pitches," Blue Jays manager John Farrell said. "He got an early ground ball double plays. He pitched ahead in the count for the most part. I think given the conditions today, it wasn't his cleanest game, but it shows the kind of
stuff he has and the late life to all his pitches. With their aggression and his life in through the zone, he's going to get a number of miss-hits and that was the case today. We scratched out some runs and that was the difference particularly the way Ricky
pitched."
John Farrell and company were one of the strongest teams of Spring Training Session. It seems they have carried over the winning momentum into the regular season as they are now 9-6 in 15 games played. However, the real challenge for the Blue Jays will be
to give similar sort of results against other top teams in American League Central Division such as Detroit Tigers.
Showing great composure, mental toughness and ability to handle the pressure, the Blue Jays secure a tight 4-3 win in the opening game. A similar flow of play was observed in the following game and Toronto once again rose to the occasion to take a decisive
2-0 lead. The Blue Jays will be hoping to continue their domination in the finale as well to earn a well deserved series sweep.
The Royals, on the other hand, have no one to blame except for themselves. They are now on 10-game losing streak, which is their longest since May 2008.
