Toronto Blue Jays trade Mike Aviles – MLB Update
The Toronto Blue Jays took a bold step trading their shortstop Mike Aviles to Cleveland Indians.
In exchange, the Blue Jays will receive right hander Esmil Rogers. Rogers is a good player and Blue Jays certainly made a healthy bargain.

He was recently acquired from the Boston Red Sox but with some internal issues, the Blue Jays needed to trade him.
While in return, the Blue Jays will be accompanied with former Indians' relief pitcher Rogers who is a good player with depth in his pitching. He is also considered one of the most aggressive relievers in the league.
He finished 2012 Major League Baseball season with 4.69 ERA along with 83 strike-outs and 1.44 WHIP.
“Esmil is not a guy we wanted to trade, but we do have some depth in our bullpen, and this gave us the chance to add some position player depth to our major league roster,” Tribe general manager Chris Antonetti said on this recent trade and told the reporters with detail.
He added, “We like Aviles for his versatility. He can play short, second and third, We expect him to compete for a spot as our backup catcher, and he can also play some first base, third base and the outfield, Gomes has soft hands, a strong arm and a quick release.”
On the other hand, the player, the Blue Jays are sending Aviles to Indians.
Aviles finished 2012 MLB campaign .250 hitting average along with 13 homers, 60 strike-outs and .282 OBP.
Both teams struggled throughout this past regular season and now making some serious decisions to go with more thrust.
Indians finished fourth in the American League Central Division with 68-94 win loss along with .420 winning percentage.
While Toronto also finished fourth Tampa Bay Rays and achieved 73-89 win loss along with .451 winning percentage.
Experts say this was the right time for both franchises as they traded players for their better next seasons. Both players will also get enough time to prepare as well as enough time to settle in their respective new teams.
