Toronto Blue Jays upbeat despite early losses – MLB News
The Toronto Blue Jays are currently feeling quite perplexed regarding their mixed and somewhat poor results in this Major League Baseball season.
The team does not look in good shape as it was in last MLB outing of April 2011. Though the Jays have spent enormous amount of time practicing hard in 2012 MLB Spring Training, but still the results are not coming in the regular season.
Before going into the new season, the Blue Jays management was quite optimistic about the way this season will unfold especially for them, but due to the lack of defence and dire bullpen, the Jays are way behind to recover soon.
The latest 6-4 defeat by the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday opened up lots of deficiencies in their roster. Firstly, from top-to-bottom, the offence was not up to the mark, while secondly offensive consistency is lacking in the team and the most upsetting fact of their poor plays is the line-up selection.
On the other hand, the Jays’ veteran bullpen is also not performing well which certainly needs a positive thrust for a better performance in the ongoing MLB competition.
However, the Jays manager John Farrell is still optimistic about the situation and stating in the media with giving lots of suggestions in order to improve the related issues.
Farrell said, “Actually, I think we’re starting to swing the bats with greater consistency, we’ve had many more hard hit balls. We put ourselves in the position to win some games late and when we’ve mislocated some pitches, we’ve gotten beat. So, I like to think that as a group we’re finding our rhythm and it’s a matter of executing in late-inning situations.”
He added, “We’re in every game and every game with a lead late, whether it’s one or two runs, and there’s been obvious games where we haven’t converted completely, so there’s always going to be a focal point on late-inning relievers.”
Blue Jays are still scheduled to play against the Tampa Bay Rays along with Kansas City Royals, Baltimore Orioles, Seattle Mariners and Texas Rangers while these games will certainly determine the level of energy they are carrying to make a drastic comeback.
