Toronto Blue Jays upset Texas Rangers 8-7 – MLB Update
Toronto Blue Jays upset Texas Rangers 8-7 at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario on Tuesday, May 1st in the second game of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season. The win will be of great significance for the
Blue Jays who were the most successful team of Spring Training Session.
Texas Rangers, on the other hand, are having a great time this regular season with an emphatic 17-7 win-loss record. The Rangers beat Toronto 4-1 in the opener and they were hoping to take a decisive 2-0 lead but that did not turn out to be the case as the
Blue Jays handled the pressure absolutely brilliantly.
Both teams displayed some high quality baseball skills as the momentum shifted from one way to the other. The Rangers made an absolutely great start to the contest as Alberto Gonzalez singled to right and Mitch Moreland scored. Elvis Andrus and Ian Kinsler
displayed some high quality hitting skills to give them a 5-0 edge.
Toronto battled back superbly in the third as Kelly Johnson and Jose Bautista homered to reduce the deficit to 5-4. The Blue Jays continued to fight right till the end with Brett Lawrie hitting the walkoff home run in the ninth to seal a thrilling victory.
"They beat us," Rangers manager Ron Washington said. "We may have helped them a little bit but they beat us."
"I knew he hit it well," said Mike Adams, who took his first loss of the season. "I didn't know if it was going to get out or not. I thought it might hit off the wall. Obviously, it hit off the top of the wall and continued going."
Considering the way the Blue Jays fought back in their encounter on Tuesday evening, with momentum on their side, they are the favourites to win the series.
John Farrell and his men will be looking to continue their impressive form into the decisive finale to dent their opponents’ confidence levels. Texas, on the other hand, will be looking to bounce back strongly in the final game to assert their dominance
in American League West Division.
