Toronto Garbage???

Question

I was wondering the specific reasons for toronto to cut the garbage pickup???????(like the financial reasons and the encouragement of recycling, but specifics for this) (10 points to the best answer!!!!!!)

No, the City did not reduce garbage services, but instead introduced the green box, blue box and yard waste programs, on alternate weeks.  This way the trash can be sorted and tossed to the correct compartment and less trash will be sent to the dump.  Dumping fees was what was costing the City.  If far more residents use the blue and green boxes, this is a win and win situation and besides collected recycling waste can be sent to the manufactures that collect them for recycling purposes and in turn pays the City.  

E.g. if you are not returning your empty liquor bottles but instead put them in the blue box, say goodbye to your cents which would go to the City.

They reduced the number of pick up days quite some time ago partly because they introduced a new green box programs as well as increased the scope of recyclable materials.    In a sense Torontonians should be producing less garbage as there are newer and city sponsored ways to reduce waste headed for the landfill.

So to answer you question, with the extended blue box program and the green box program there is really no reason to have weekly curbside pick up.  I live in a rental home with 7 units, we currently only product 3 bins every two weeks.  An average of one kitchen bag, per unit, per week.

Politicians...hmmm funny how they say we are in such financial difficulties as a city but the higher up ones keep padding their poskets with raises and giving themselves extra benefits on their expense accounts ....
