Toronto Maple Leaf injury update
The Toronto Maple Leafs continue to struggle with injuries as Colby Armstrong, Dion Phaneuf and J-S Giguere are all out of the line-up, and now forward Mike Brown is doubtful for the team’s upcoming game against the Buffalo Sabres.
The Leafs have managed to sporadically lose players throughout their 20 game schedule. However, according to recent reports from Leafs practice on Thursday 25 November, the club may be getting some of those players back sooner rather than later.
Armstrong has been out of the line-up for four weeks after he had to undergo surgery to repair a torn tendon in his finger, an injury he suffered against the Florida Panthers on 26 October. Fortunately, the Leafs forward enjoyed his second full practice
on Thursday. However, the 28-year-old could still be two weeks away from returning to the line-up.
Leafs starting goaltender Giguere was taken out of the line-up after suffering a groin injury against the Nashville Predators on 16 November. Giguere was expected to miss up to two weeks with the injury. However, it was revealed that the net-minder will
be on the club’s upcoming road trip to Buffalo and Ottawa. The Leafs have gotten quality starts from Jonas Gustavsson, but will be keen to get their starter back.
In practice on Wednesday 24 November, forward Mike Brown took a hard shot in the groin and left practice immediately. Brown missed practice on Thursday and is said to be questionable for the club’s game against the Sabres on Friday 27 November. The Leafs
have called up Luca Caputi to fill in for Brown on the fourth line.
Meanwhile, Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf is skating with the team, but is not wearing equipment and still seems a long way from returning.
The Leafs are next in action against Buffalo on Friday at HSBC Arena.
