Toronto Maple Leafs General Manager Brian Burke could be in trouble if no Playoffs next season -NHL Update
Toronto Maple Leafs are one of the few teams that are really on the edge of everything. Whether it has to do with regular season performance, playoff record and player contribution, it seems like everything is going wrong for the Maple Leafs and for general
manager Brian Burke, it could be his last in that position if his there is not any turnaround soon.
Burke was hired by Toronto Maple Leafs due to his ability of helping teams turn around. Some examples of his ability to make magic with struggling teams is that of Vancouver Canucks and Anaheim Ducks, where he set a base for the success they have captured
up until now, but with Toronto, it seems to be getting worse with each passing day.
Toronto ended another regular season this year at the bottom three of the Eastern Conference, which is definitely not a good sign for the highest revenue generating team of the NHL. It has the largest fan base and is the most well known team around the league
and still fails in every regard.
What many experts see as a failure in GM Brian Burke’s regard, is that he has vested too much interest in the current squad of players on the Maple Leafs roster. One of those examples is goalie James Reimer and many of the forwards.
It is not surprising to see that many players do not play well together and the job of a general manager is to get players with chemistry, perform with each other and ultimately, benefit the team collectively.
Burke has kept the same squad for too long and including this season, there is nothing really special that could term Toronto to be headed towards success. The only thing that will work for Toronto next season is if there is a real spontaneous boost in performance
all of a sudden.
Next season, without a doubt, is the last one that Toronto fans will allow Burke to work something out if he wants to keep his position with the team or else it could very easily and possibly be his last.
