Toronto Maple Leafs Joffrey Lupul feeling '100 percent' following injury -NHL Update
Toronto Maple Leafs can use good news in any way or form right now as they gear up to head into another 2012-2013 National Hockey League (NHL) regular season without making any significant changes to ensure a turnaround.
Joffrey Lupul probably made Toronto’s day on Tuesday, August 7, 2012, as he skated for the first time since separating his shoulder earlier in March of this year. It was reported by the Toronto Star that had Lupul discuss how he was ready to go for the upcoming
hockey year.
"I’m 100 percent. I’ve had a full summer of training. I’ll be ready to go," Lupul said.
A former player of the Anaheim Ducks, Joffrey Lupul is still trying to find his game after failing to get more than 20 points in previous season due to various injuries and lack of playing time. Last season was decisive for the 28-year-old as he put up career
highs of 67 points (25 goals, 42 assists) for the first time since the 2008-2009 regular season.
“It was a little disappointing to get hurt right when he got here because I would have liked to show him the way I was playing,” said Lupul, talking about former Anaheim Ducks coach Randy Carlyle. “It’s definitely behind us. It’s a new city and a new situation
for both of us. We talked about it right when he got here. Basically he said he needs me to keep playing the way I was when Ron (Wilson) was here.”
After his fifth season in the NHL, Lupul’s performance just fell down and looked like he would never be able to regain ground, but a little time with Toronto Maple Leafs after being dealt by Anaheim Ducks back in 2010-2011, the Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta,
Canada native is back in the game.
Lupul was drafted as the seventh overall back in round-one of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. He is currently on a four-year, $17 million contract and has one season left before becoming an unrestricted free agent next July.
The left winger is excited and definitely, Maple Leafs are too, to have him back.
