Toronto Maple Leafs recall Nazem Kadri and Keith Aulie from the minors
He may not have made the team after training camp and the exhibition games, but forward Nazem Kadri now has a chance to prove his worth to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
According to TSN.ca, the Maple Leafs have called Kadri up from their American Hockey League affiliate in an attempt to boost their offence. With only nine goals scored in the past seven
games, the Leafs’ offence has been struggling greatly as of late. The Leafs have scored an average of 2.13 goals per game, second to the New Jersey Devils, who have been mired in a slump of their own this season.
Kadri has performed well for the Toronto Marlies thus far, earning a point in each of their 14 games. He has scored five goals and nine assists, and was a plus-2 for the team. The native
of London, Ontario was drafted seventh overall by the Maple Leafs in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, and the organization has high hopes for him.
The Leafs also called up defenceman Keith Aulie to help the team with their offensive struggles. Aulie has also played in 14 games for the Marlies, scoring a goal and three assists in
the process. The Leafs sent forward Christian Hanson and defender Korbinian Holzer down to the Marlies in order to make room for Kadri and Aulie.
After starting the 2010-11 season with a four-game winning streak, the Leafs have lost nine of their last 10 games. They currently hold a record of 5-7-3, which places them fourth overall
in the Northeast Division with 13 points.
Toronto will play their next game at home on Saturday 13 November against the Vancouver Canucks, who are currently on an extended road trip. After that, they will play host to the Nashville
Predators on Tuesday 16 November.
