Toronto Maple Leafs win third game in a row 3-0 against the Carolina Hurricanes
One of the matches which saw the Toronto Maples Leafs as the weakest link due to the disappointment performance in the season so far. Though they were a very strong force last season but this time things didn’t turn out to be the same. However, this Thursday
as they hosted the Carolina Hurricanes at the Air Canada Centre much a lot was expected from them by the massive crowd that came to witness the match.
Toronto Maple Leafs dominated the game in terms of possession, defence and offence which resulted in them winning the match 3-0 in the end. James Riemer, goalkeeper of the Maple Leafs was named the star selection of the match after he kept the clean sheet
intact making 27 saves in the match and was named the star selection of the match.
Carolina Hurricanes started of the proceedings attacking and coming up with some brilliant pieces of play. There were several moments in the open period where it looked as if they would score and take the lead. Both teams knew that it was very important
to take the lead so they pressed on in search of goals.
Maple Leafs got stronger on the attacks with the passage of time as a result but they too couldn’t score. As the period neared its end, shots flew from everywhere on the pitch with the goal keeper coming across some tough times. They did a fantastic job
as no goals were scored and the scores were level on 0-0 as the teams went into the break. During the period, Maple Leafs made 13 goal attempts whole the Hurricanes made 6 shots on goal.
The second period saw the Maple Leafs continuing on the same roads attacking and coming up with some brilliant pieces of play. The Hurricanes were not far behind as they also did the hard work constructing attacks and coming up with a few counter attacks.
The match was evenly balanced but it was Maple Leafs who took the lead scoring in the 8th minute through a decent strike by Clarke MacArthur. The game moved on and was played in the same flow with both teams attacking. Defence was given importance
but not as much as the offence. However, it was Maple Leafs who scored once again in the 15th minute through Darryl Boyce to establish two goals lead to their advantage.
As the period neared its end, both teams pressed on in search of more goals but they were unsuccessful in doing so. The period ended with the Toronto Maple Leafs making 13 goal attempts while the Carolina Hurricanes made 9 goal attempts.
The final period saw both teams come out attacking right from the start once again. Both teams were seen counter attacking regularly and in doing so some brilliant pieces of play were observed as the players combined with each other. Though the period was
flooded with goal attempts but only one goal was scored that too in favour of the Toronto Maple Leafs by Kris Versteeg from decent shot in the 7th minute.
The period and the match ended with the Toronto Maple Leafs winning the match 3-0 in the end as they made 15 goal attempts in the final period while Carolina Hurricanes made 12 goal attempts in the final period.
