Toronto Maple Leafs win third straight over struggling Anaheim Ducks 5-2 -NHL Update
Toronto has showed that they can easily take three straight contests despite being on the road as the Maple Leafs dominated the struggling Anaheim Ducks, 5-2, on Sunday night, November 27, 2011, at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, United States.
The Maple Leafs have now reached the number two spot in the Eastern Conference with 30 points, standing right below the Pittsburgh Penguins who have 32. They will have to continue winning if they have hopes of taking over the East along with staying out
of reach of the Florida Panthers who are down by two.
Anaheim on the other hand, has not seen such a disappointing performance ever since the 2011-2012 National Hockey League (NHL) regular season kicked off and have now lost their seventh consecutive matchup, which is certainly surprisingly seeing that they
have one of the best offensive line-ups in the entire league.
"I think we just seem to be dead between the ears," Anaheim coach, Randy Carlyle, said. "It's mind-boggling, some of the plays that we're trying to make. We're not thinking, we're not reading, and then it seems that we pile on extra work for ourselves from
our lack of execution."
Francois Beauchemin gave Anaheim the lead with his first of the night nearly midway through the opening period during their initial power play opportunity as Toronto’s, Clarke MacArthur was booked for tripping with a minor penalty.
Tyler Bozak made the equalising shot at the 14:10 mark during a power play chance of their own while MacArthur came out strong and scored the tie-breaker only 19 seconds after Bozak to send Toronto with the lead as both teams entered the second period.
Joey Crabb made the insuring shot in the opening minutes of the second period while Bozak answered back with another 47 seconds into the third.
Corey Perry tried to bring Anaheim back into the game with his 10th at the 5:38 mark, but was of no use as the Ducks failed to score any more with Luke Schenn potting another with 12 seconds remaining.
Anaheim has another home game against the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday while Toronto returns to the Air Canada Centre to host the Boston Bruins the same day.
