Toronto Maple Leafs wins 3-1 against Carolina Hurricanes in its search for a spot in the playoffs
The first game of Wednesday was played at the Air Canada Center as the home team, Toronto Maple Leafs, was up against Carolina Hurricanes.
The game was important for both teams as they were looking to score some important points in their search of a playoff spot.
Both the teams made a cautious start to the game and the attacks intensified with the passage of time. Eventually, Hurricanes managed to score and get into the lead. Maple Leafs was able to fight back and score in the final minute to level the scores.
The second period saw Maple Leafs coming up with a decent effort which saw them scoring twice during the period to establish a two-goal lead to their advantage.
The final period didn’t see any goals as the game ended with Maple Leafs winning by 3-1 in the end.
Dion Phaneuf of Maple Leafs was named the star of the game as he scored two goals during the game and also came up with an important assist.
Maple Leafs fired shots every now but with the passage of time Hurricanes also came up with a very strong offence. There were shots every now and then and the passing of both teams got better.
There were several chances for both sides to score early on but they weren’t able to capitalize from the strong start they got.
However, Hurricanes managed to break the deadlock with a goal in the 13th minute which was scored by Chad LaRose during a power-play from a decent strike.
Both teams continued to attack and it was Hurricanes who dominated the game when it came to shots on goal.
However, Maple Leafs scored in the final minute to level the scores. The goal was scored by Dion Phaneuf from a powerful strike from a powerful long range shot.
The period ended with the scores level on 1-1 with Hurricanes making 12 shots on goal during the period while Maple Leafs made 6 shots on goal.
The second period saw both teams coming out strong on the offence. However, Maple Leafs was the stronger of the two and they managed to get into the lead. The leading goal was scored by Phaneuf once again in the 11th minute through a brilliant
powerful strike.
Maple Leafs continued to attack and scored once again in the very next minute through Tyler Bozak from a simple tip in shot to double their advantage.
The period ended with no further goals and Maple Leafs leading 3-1 as they made 9 shots on goal during the period while Hurricanes made 10 shots on goal.
The final period was more or less dominated by Hurricanes who made 14 shots on goal during the 20 minutes of play. Maple Leafs also made four shots on goal during the period as the opposing defence came up with a brilliant performance.
However, no goals were scored in the period and the game ended with Maple Leafs winning the game 3-1.
