Toronto Maple Leafs wins 4-3 against Buffalo Sabres as both teams fight to make it to the playoff cut
The second game of Saturday was played at the Air Canada Center as the home team, Toronto Maple Leafs, was up against Buffalo Sabres.
Both the teams were near the playoff cut and a win for either of the teams would move them into the cut.
Sabres made a decent start to the game which saw them scoring to put them into the lead. Maple Leafs levelled the scores with a goal later in the period.
The second period saw Maple Leafs scoring once again to get into the lead. However, Sabres were very strong and scored two goals to lead 3-2 as the period ended.
The final period saw Maple Leafs scoring twice to win the game by 4-3 in the end.
James Reimer of Maple Leafs was named the star of the game as he made 39 saves during the course of the game.
Sabres made a great start to the game as they managed to score in the third minute through Mike Weber from a well placed flick shot to get into the lead. Both teams got stronger and stronger with the passage of time.
Maple Leafs with their strong play managed to score too with Clarke MacArthur bagging the goal.
The goal was scored through a brilliantly powerful strike in the 12th minute. Both teams came across several chances but there was no affect on the scores.
The period ended with the scores level on 1-1. During the period, Maple Leafs made 7 shots on goal while Sabres made 12 shots on goal.
The second period saw Maple Leafs on fire as they fired shots every now and then and from everywhere on ice. Despite some very strong show during the course of the period, there were no goals during the opening part of the period.
The period however finally saw a goal being scored in the 11th minute in favour of Maple Leafs. The goal was scored by Tyler Bozak from a decent strike. Sabres scored in the 12th minute through Jochen Hecht.
Sabres took the lead as they scored in the 16th minute once again through Jordan Leopold from a powerful strike.
The period ended with Sabres leading 3-2.
During the period, the Sabres made 20 shots on goal while Maple Leafs made 12 shots on goal.
The final period saw Maple Leafs quick out of the blocks and they scored twice in the fifth and seventh minute to seal the game.
The goals were scored by Mikhail Grabovski and Phil Kessel respectively. In the end, Maple Leafs won the game 4-3 with both teams making 10 shots on goal in the final period.
