Toronto Maple Leafs wins 4-3 against Colorado Avalanche in a nerve-wrecking game
Colorado Avalanche hosted Toronto Maple Leafs in one of Thursday’s games at the Pepsi Center. The game saw both teams coming up with a decent performance which turned out to be a very tight and entertaining battle won by Maple Leafs, 4-3, in the end.
The game started with Avalanche scoring the opening goal to get into the lead. However, Maple Leafs dominated the game after this and scored twice before the period ended to lead by 2-1.
The second period saw both teams scoring a goal apiece with Maple Leafs still leading 3-2.
The final 20 minutes saw both teams scoring a goal each with Maple Leafs winning the game 4-3 in the end.
Nikolai Kulemin, winger of Maple Leafs, was named the star of the game as he scored two goals.
Avalanche was on target with the very first shot of the game. Avalanche, with some strong plays, managed to score in the sixth minute through Daniel Winnik’s well placed flick shot.
Maple Leafs wasn’t far behind as it came up with some very strong plays but failed to convert the early chances into goals.
However, they finally managed to level the scores with a goal in the 11th minute scored by Nikolai Kulemin.
Kulemin was the scorer of the second goal for Maple Leafs in the final minute that put Leafs in the lead.
At the end of the period, Leafs was leading 2-1. During the period, Leafs made 9 shots on goal while Avalanche made just three shots on goal.
The second 20 minutes of play saw both teams coming out strong but Maple Leafs scored in the 10th minute through Tyler Bozak’s simple tip-in shot to extend their lead.
Avalanche was able to respond to this with some strong plays and scored in the 13th minute through Ryan O’Reilly.
The period saw both teams coming up with some strong plays and shots on goal but were unable to capitalise from the plays and didn’t score any goals.
The period ended with Maple Leafs leading 3-2. During the period, Avalanche made 13 shots on goal while Maple Leafs made 10 shots on goal.
The final 20 minutes of play saw Maple Leafs scoring an early goal in the fourth minute through Phil Kessel’s decent strike.
Avalanche scored another goal in the 12th minute from Matt Duchene’s shot but it was Maple Leafs who won the game by 4-3 in the end.
During the final period, Avalanche made 12 shots on goal while Maple Leafs made eight shots on goal.
