Toronto Maple Leafs would have to get their ice rink ready quickly if the lockout ends soon
Few days back it looked as if the new National Hockey League (NHL) season would not begin and it would remain a lockout for the whole season, like it was in 2004-2005 season. But now there are strong chances of it starting once again and it seems as if there
are negotiations going on between NHL and NHLPA.
When it looked like there could be no ending to the lockout and no beginning of new season, Air Canada Centre, the home ice rink of the Toronto Maple Leafs looked to take out their ice and make it better, but now they will have to hurry up the process of
making the playing area ready once again because it might be needed very soon.
The things are looking much better for NHL fans now as it looks like the new season would be starting as soon as the 2nd of the November and Toronto Maple Leafs would have to play their first game before their scheduled game against Chicago Blackhawks
on the 3rd of the November.
The teams would also have to make up for the lost of the games which were cancelled because of the lockout and they will have to play one extra game for five weeks in the period from November to April.
Maple Leafs had also lost their three pre-season games against Detroit Red Wings, Philadelphia Flyers and Buffalo Sabres but they are not necessary to be played and are just a formality.
Among the games, which could be played even after being cancelled are, season opening game against Montreal Canadiens, second games against Columbus Blue Jackets and third game against Ottawa Senators.
The Toronto, Ontario based team had a very tough schedule from October 30th to 9th November as they had to play five matches during the span of 11 days. These were the games against Anaheim Ducks, Boston Bruins, Chicago Blackhawks,
Pittsburgh Penguins and New Jersey Devils. One game that fans would be waiting for the most has to be Hall of Fame game against New Jersey, in which there former captain Mats Sundin was to be inducted into Hall of Fame.
