Toronto Raptors looking for a new top executive: NBA Update
The Toronto Raptors are still searching for a top executive for their franchise. Raptors president Bryan Colangelo has conducted several interviews so far with some high profile executives from the league, but still no decision
has been taken.
Sources have confirmed that many interviews have been conducted in recent weeks. Philadelphia 76ers current general manager Ed Stefanski, along with San Antonio Spurs’ assistant GM Dennis Lindsey, Indiana Pacers’ pro personnel
director Kevin Prichard and ex- New Orleans Hornets’ GM Jeff Bower are among those who have been interviewed by Bryan Colangelo in the past few weeks.
Every candidate, who has met with Colangelo, has relatively a good experience in the league and although there has not been any official word, it is thought that the Spurs assistant GM is a stand out favourite to land the job.
Lindsey is currently assisting the Spurs’ general manager R.C. Buford. Before joining the Spurs’ franchise in 2007, he spent 11 seasons with the Houston Rockets at different positions. At the Spurs, he first worked as director
of player development and director of player personnel while later, he became the vice president of basketball operations.
The 76ers general manager Stefanski is another potential candidate for the Raptors next top executive. Stefanski took over the 76ers job replacing Billy King in 2007 and now he is in the final year of his contract. He has also
served as the general manager of New Jersey Nets in the past.
One more candidate, who might make the cut is Indiana Pacers’ vastly experience pro personnel director Kevin Prichard is also a well known former professional basketball player. He has played for the Golden State Warriors, Miami
Heat, Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers, Washington Bullets and Vancouver Grizzlies. He started his managerial career from the Kansas City Knights of the American Basketball Association (ABA) and led his team to the Championship game in 2001.
In the same year, he arrived in the NBA and joined the San Antonio Spurs as their team’s new scout. Before coming into the Pacers’ roster, he worked with Portland Trail Blazers for several years.
The ex- New Orleans Hornets’ general manager Jeff Bower is also a potential candidate for the Raptors’ new font office executive. Bower has worked with the Hornets’ franchise as general manager twice in his career, first in 2002-2003
season and later in 2009-2010 season.
These all candidates possess extraordinary managing capabilities and could be given the next high rank job in the Raptors’ management.
