Toronto Raptors thump New York Knicks; Bucks rout Bobcats; Orlando Magic pound Cleveland Cavaliers: NBA Roundup
Toronto Raptors 96 vs. New York Knicks 79
DeMar DeRozan went 11-for-17 from the floor to bag a game high 30 points, Andrea Bargnani had 21 points and 7 rebounds while Gary Forbes added 19 points off the bench as Toronto Raptors thumped the New York Knicks 96-79, bringing
an end to their five game winning streak under interim coach Mike Woodson.
For the Knicks it was a night on which they struggled on the offense big time. No player had more than six field goals and by the time the game ended the Knicks only shot 38 percent from the floor. Amar'e Stoudemire was their highest
scorer with 17 points, Steve Novak made all five three pointers for the Knicks to end with 15 while Carmelo Anthony added 12 points and 9 rebounds.
The Raps started strongly with a 15-7 run and after a minor scare early in the second half, never allowed the Knicks to come within striking distance.
Milwaukee Bucks 112 vs. Charlotte Bobcats 92
On Friday night, Milwaukee Bucks entered the Time Warner Cable Arena looking to bounce back from a defeat against the Boston Celtics that ended their six game winning streak.
Up against them were the Charlotte Bobcats, the team which had beaten them in five straight games at home. However, the Bobcats nowadays are mere pushovers and on the night, they offered little resistance as the Bucks romped to
a 112-92 win.
Six Bucks scored in double figures with Luc Mbah a Moute scoring 20 points and 8 rebounds off the bench to lead the way. For the Bobcats, Gerald Henderson pounded a game high 29 points. The Bucks were huge on the glass. They outrebounded
the Cats by 10 and outscored them 72-34 on the points in the paint.
Charlotte had the better start, but after going up by 16-10, they lost the lead deep into the first quarter and never managed to threaten the Bucks after that.
Orlando Magic 93 vs. Cleveland Cavaliers 80
Ryan Anderson pitched in with a game high 17 points while Dwight Howard recorded a 16-13 points-rebounds double-double as the Orlando Magic knocked over the Cleveland Cavaliers 93-80 at the Amway centre on Friday night.
For the Cavs, veteran forward Antawn Jamison had 16 points with 9 boards; rookie Tristan Thompson added a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Kyrie Irving had 13 points and 6 dishes.
The Magic started the game doing what they do best – making frequent shots from the long range. They knocked down 8 of their first thirteen field shots including 5 triples, racing onto a 20-31 first quarter advantage. The Cavs
came within five, midway through the second quarter, but a late Magic burst gave the hosts a 55-40 lead. An early 9-4 run stretched the advantage to 20 points, but the Cavs responded to make it a seven point game and entered the final 12 minutes with a 63-72
deficit.
In the 4th quarter, the Cavs went cold allowing the Magic to open up a 21 points lead with a little over 4 minutes to go. That pretty much ended the game.
