Toronto: Rush Hour on 401 & 404 on Friday Afternoons?

I'm going on the 401 from Kipling to the 404 and going North. What time would be the latest time I should leave without hitting (too much) traffic? Would 3:00PM be good? Or would 2:30 make any difference?

2:30 would make a difference...but as long as your are on the road NO LATER than 3 pm on a Friday, you would be alright.

The 400 is fine but just make sure you don't travel too late as well, especially since a lot of people are going away on the wknds and many do take the 400.

That time of day and on a Friday, you better to get in the express lanes at Kipling and ride them until Yonge or Bayview and then get into the collectors as your exiting just past Don Mills as the 404 is the northern extention of the DVP.
