Toronto buses and subways?

I'm from ottawa and our bus service provides us with a travel planner (you time in where you want to go and it shows you what buses to take). How does it work in Toronto? How do i use the TTC website? I'm so confused!

The TTC website is terrible. When I first moved here I used the toll free number and asked someone for help with directions. They were very helpful. But once you get the hang of Transit in T.O it is very easy to navigate. Good luck.

The TTC website does not give you directions for your route.  You pretty much have to plan it yourself or call them and they can help you.
