Question:

Toronto or Vancouver - where to live?

I'm considering moving to Canada and tossing up between Toronto or Vancouver.

I like the idea of Vancouver being close to the sea and mountains. but it's probably easier for me to get a job in Toronto since I work within the corporate environment.

Need help on weighing up which would be better.

Would be great to get some feedback on crime rates, housing, night life, transport etc.

Thanks

  1. Like some of the comments above say, Vancouver is a big city but is more focused on scenary and sports and those kinf od things where as toronto is more of a city life. But crime rate is pretty low in both, there safe

  2. I lived in Toronto. Toronto's okay. Housing can be a little expensive if your looking for a house, but if you want an apartment it can be really cheap. If you plan on using the TTC (public transit) in Toronto, don't bother moving there. Last year there were pamphlets on the buses to see what the reaction from the public would be if they scrapped a huge part of the bus service and an even bigger part of the subway system that they haven't even finished building yet. The city doesn't give them enough money. It seems that Toronto isn't run very well.. the things that they finance and don't finance can be a little funky. anyways. Driving on the 401 can be scary sometimes. there's usually an accident somewhere on the 400 series, some people just don't know how to drive. Riding a bike? I wouldn't do it downtown but some people do.  Scenery wise Vancouver wins without trying.   Nightlife. Toronto's night life is nearly non-existent. Crime in Toronto..depends when and where. Generally it's not that bad, but there are some neighbourhoods I wouldn't go to..Some people in Toronto will shoot at a rival without caring who is around and who is in the way. Hence the murder of the girl on boxing day a few years ago and many many more. I don't know about Vancouver crime rates, but I'm pretty sure Vancouver has its own fair share of gang crime.  You can get some really great food in Toronto. If you're into indian/chinese/japanese/thai/vegetarian you can get AMAZING food. especially indian. There's a really really raelly good butcher shop there too. If I was ever crazy enough to move back to Toronto it would be because of the food.

  3. Vancouver

  4. Grew up in To and moved to Vancouver

if you love the outdoors and into ski, hiking, cycle whatever.. and cant stand snow in winter and like scenery...Vancouver hands down.

If you like the nite life, big city scene and corporate environment, culture, shows etc,  probably Toronto.

Crime; petty theft, auto etc. higher in vancouver.  Cost of housing and food, gas higher in vancouver.   Transit better in toronto...

but i still think Vancouver is better place to live
