Toronto to Winnipeg?

whats the cheapest air lines i could travel with from toronto to winnipeg? i tried west jet and air canada, ranges were btwn, $409-455, for two way trip

Keep checking West Jet's website for deals. They often have seat sales closer to the date that you will be flying if they have not filled the plane.

Fly on a weekday, and you'll usually save a lot.

I have seen ridiculously low fares on West Jet when they are having a seat sale. You have to constantly check the website, as none of the call centre staff are aware as to when seat sales will begin. I once called looking to book a flight from Winnipeg to Regina, and I was prepared to pay $160 one way. I had just checked the website a few hours ago. In the end, I paid $73 (plus taxes and surcharges). Just as I called, a seat sale was introduced, not 5 minutes before. Talk about lucky. ;)

West Jet is probably your best option, although Air Canada does sometimes offer low fares if you fly during the week and book far in advance.

It also depends when you travel. Any holiday will cost you more. There are also discounts offered by both airlines if you are flying for a funeral, and perhaps medical treatment.

If you must fly, all you can really do is hope for a sale. To be honest, $409 for a return trip from T.O. to Wpg. is quite reasonable. My aunt paid practically $1000 to fly that same route around Christmas.

Other options are driving or the bus (Greyhound), although most people will advise against them. 2-3 straight days on a bus is not a good time for most people. I also agree with Jenny, it doesn't cost much less.

Westjet is your best bet, but Air canada does price match with them.  Unfortunately, flying within Canada is VERY expensive.  You could take the greyhound but it is an awfully long trip and doesn't cost much less.
