I am not that intelligent when it comes to computer knowledge, so I was wondering if somebody could help me. I recently downloaded some torrent files, but I'm using the wi-fi at the library, so I can't use uTorrent to do whatever it is that uTorrent does to them. These torrent files are roms for emulators, but I don't know what I need to do to be able to use them. Like, do I need to extract them or something? Please, somebody help me!!!

  1. The torrent files have none of the content you want.

A torrent file is a small file that, when opened up with a bittorrent client, sets up communications for the transfer of the actual content.

You will not have the actual roms until you complete the download in uTorrent.

  2. for opening the torrent files you have to download first torrent(just go to google & search for utorrent, download it)

after the downloading it's mostly saved in rar files format,so download winrar(again search on google)

open the winrar file extract it on your location.

  3. Torrent files contain details of where other files can be downloaded using the BitTorrent protocol - you need a BitTorrent client (like uTorrent) to access them.

You cannot convert a torrent file into a ROM because the data inside the ROM is not stored inside the torrent file. It exists on other computers and the torrent file just tells a BitTorrent client how to find those computers.

If you can't use a BitTorrent client, then the torrent file is useless to you. (But it probably is for a best, since the odds are heavily in favour of it being illegal to download the files anyway - very few ROMs are distributed legally).

  4. ok,first you should know the highest rate of download that you have to know if it is slow or fast or you can go to google and type speed test choose any of the shown sites and make a speed test(please you should know the difference between the connection speed an the download speed)

in my opinion the fastest torrent client is utorrent so try to use it,and adjust the sittings as your connection is.

all what you need right now is to choose a torrent that has a high number of seeder(people who upload the torrent for you as they already have it or finished downloading it) and has a low number of leachers (the downloaders like you)

when you have alot of seeders you will have a good speed

but if you have also alot of leachers you will have a low speed as the speed is divided by all the leachers according to their download speed

you should try good torrent sites like mininova.com

    or any other good ones

if you found the format of the files like .zip or .rar or any other compressed files then you have to extract them

    download this

    http://www.download.com/WinRAR/3000-2250...

compressed or zipped files can be unzipped with winrar program from here

if all the files are compressed right click one the first one and choose extract and it will extract all the files the one you clicked on and the others and this is also the same way to extract one file

all the folders that contain the files should be in its right place in the same folder, one missing folder will cause to a failed extraction

if you found the file format is .ISO or .daa or any other image files then open it with power iso it is the program the i prefer for iso file you can download it from here

    http://www.download.com/PowerISO/3000-26...

yes bitorrent client is like utorrent and u torrent is the best for me

i hope i gave you much info

    good luck
