Yes, they are free, and like the other guy said they are the highest quality. You usually need another small program to download it with. Torrents usually download very fast, sometimes at 150KB/s. I use uTorrent (38KB) to download the files and I mainly use isohunt to find the files I'm looking for.

What is ILLIGAL is to use this technology to download copywrite material. Its like using a telephone is legal. But there are certain things you could do on a telephone which are illegal, such as conspire to kill the president.

Torrents are free because they're some kind of link that, using a torrent download program like uTorrent or bit torrent, start a P2P download so you can get the other people's shared files you want...

They can be found at a lot of torrent pages like thepiratebay or mininova... The only problem of torrents is that their download speed depends on how much people have the file. More people haveng the file (seeders) means a faster download
