Torres, Villa, Fabregas or Soldado: A striking dilemma for Del Bosque – Football Special
The Spanish coach, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vicente-c36001 Del Bosque, must be going through a lot of trouble up front as he has several striking options to choose from. This striking dilemma started back 2012 when David Villa was out injured and Fernando Torres was underperforming for
his club, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786. Del Bosque decided to play a false 9 with Cesc Fabregas playing in the hole alongside Andres Iniesta and Pedro Rodriguez on the wings.
However, this time things have changed. David Villa is back in action and even though he is not in the same goal-scoring form, he does guarantee a lot of chances which he creates all by himself. On the other hand, Cesc Fabregas always manages to provide
the team with either an assist or a goal whenever he is featured in the first team. Fernando Torres has been showing his old class again as he has managed to score five goals in the Confederations Cup this season. Lastly, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 star, Roberto Soldado;
who has been scoring goals at will for his club, but he has not managed to do the same for his country.
Del Bosque is in a striking dilemma as all these four players need time on the pitch. There was a possibility to field David Villa and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707 at the same time; or even David Villa and Cesc Fabregas, but now that possibility has been reduced.
With http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Xabi-Alonso-c37045 out injured, Del Bosque has now been playing a 4-3-3 formation rather than a 4-2-3-1. With a 4-2-3-1 intact, Del Bosque fielded Andres Iniesta in the left wing role, while Pedro was stretched out to the right, with Xavi Hernandez taking
the centre attacking midfield role. Alonso and Busquets played in the holding midfield positions, just like Khedira and Alonso in Real Madrid.
However, now things have changed. Alonso is out injured and Del Bosque has to field the Barcelona trio of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-Busquets-c33048, Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta in the midfield. This means that David Silva has to play on the left for the Spanish giants in order
to make up for the winger. The right wing is covered by Pedro Rodriguez, who has shown a lot of form recently. The youngster always performs whenever he is playing for his country and that is the reason why Del Bosque has given him priority over the likes
of Jesus Navas, Juan Mata and even http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Santi-Cazorla-c32505. All these three players are phenomenal when they play for their clubs, but Pedro has managed to impress Del Bosque to the limit that he cannot be benched.
In the recent game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926, Torres started off for La Roja and was unable to find the back of the net. He scored one brilliant goal-scoring opportunity but was unable to finish it with his left foot. Now, it is up to Del Bosque whether he should play
a false 9 formation, or revert to an out and out striker in the shape of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-Soldado-c31367 or a misfiring Fernando Torres.
Torres is quick, but he is unable to finish things off. On the other hand, Soldado is quick and even takes shots on target, but he was unable to score against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nigeria-c2970. The last option is Spain’s all-time leading goal-scorer, David Villa, who might not be
quick but has the experience to finish a move of in style.
