The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 forward has admitted that things were not as good as he would have hoped throughout last season; however he is content with his performance with the national side.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707 has voiced his opinion regarding the recently passed season and has labelled it as complicated and difficult.
The striker has conceded that it was a trying year of football for him, expressing that he could not perform as well it was hoped of him.
The player was signed by English Premier League outfit, Chelsea, halfway through the 2010-2011 campaign. Interestingly, he was unable to make a positive impact at the Stamford Bridge.
Rated as one of the best forwards in the world during his days with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 and Spanish La Liga side, Atletico Madrid, Torres was believed to be a great signing by the Blues.
However, the player struggled through the last season and failed to perform up to the mark with both club and country.
Despite being given a great deal of time on the pitch, Torres never found the form he had with his former clubs, especially Liverpool, and his influence on the London side was dismal.
The attacker found the back of the net on exceedingly rare occasions and many claimed that the player has lost his touch.
However, regardless of his individual breakdown as a player, the Spaniard was still able to secure three important titles in the last season.
Chelsea secured the FA Cup along with their first ever UEFA Champions League triumph, from which the player gained two important medals.
In addition to this, Torres also saw his national side triumph in the Euro 2012.
With three goals to his name, the former Liverpool player was named the winner of the Golden Boot in the competition.
While talking to reporters, the 28-year-old was quoted as saying:
"It was a complicated season for me. It does not mean it was bad, far from it, but it was complicated with very difficult moments for me. But to see my family happy after the final, you see whatever happened during the season was worth it.”
"I will leave the poor memories behind and just remember the three titles, with this final against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 so beautiful for the team, the whole country and everyone who follows Spain. After a year that was so tough, and during which we suffered so much, it
made it all worth it.”
Fernando Torres will now have to leave his poor form behind as Chelsea will start their new season considered to be among the favourites to win the Premier League.
