Chelsea’s January 2011 acquisition Fernando Torres claims he is coming to terms with the style of play at his new club.
The striker joined http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 in the final days of the January transfer window for a whopping 50 million pounds.
Since arriving at Stamford Bridge, Torres has done little to justify his phenomenal price tag. The Spaniard had an uninspiring debut for the Blues, managing less than 70 minutes on the pitch before manager Carlo Ancelotti had him substituted.
But it seems as if Fernando Torres is finally adjusting to life with the Blues. The Spaniard showed glimpses of his brilliance against FC Copenhagen during Chelsea’s Champions League round of 16 first leg encounter against the Danish side- a game which the
Blues won 2-0.
Torres believes that he is starting to gel with his new teammates, saying, “It is my job to understand the game of Nico (http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Didier-Drogba-c11044, to be involved in the routine of the team and know the quality of the players, so that's
what I am trying to do now.”
Although Torres has not scored for his new employers so far, it seems that it is only a matter of time before he does so. The striker will be hoping to break his duck in the best possible way- by scoring against Premier League rivals Manchester United.
The Red Devils will travel to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday for a crucial Premier League encounter and Fernando Torres could prove to be a serious threat to their hopes of lifting their 19th Premier League crown in the ongoing 2010-11 season.
He fired off a warning to Manchester United, saying, “United have brilliant centre-backs and always the motivation is high when you play against them. You want to play well against these kinds of players to show you can do it.”
Chelsea currently lie in 5th place in the Barclays Premier League standings, 15 points behind leaders Manchester United. If the Red Devils can manage to beat the Blues at their home ground though, it would give them a 7-point lead at the top,
making them clear favourites to go on and win the Premier League crown.
