  1. ok it is illegal to catch a wild tortoise and keep it as a pet, no you can't keep them together as the wild caught one or the other could have something it can pass to the other one and you will end up with two sick tortoises, the wild tortoise will probably become really stressed and can die from this but if you have mixed them then you can't release the wild one until you know it has not picked anything up from the shop brought tortoise as you could effect the wild tortoise population, keep them separate and take the wild one back( if healthy) from where you got it from, as for the shop brought one no you can not release it in to the wild as it might not be a wild caught one and it won't be able to survive, even released together they will go their separate ways and you don't know if the shop brought one is indigenous to your area if you release it it could upset the balance of the wild tortoise population, the best thing you can do if you don't want either tortoise is to get in touch with a reptile rescue and let them sort them out they will release the wild one in a suitable place and re home the shop brought tortoise

  2. I don't know what kind of tortoise you got from the pet shop.. but I'm guessing it might be native to there? More than likely it would be fine on it's own. Even though you've kept it as a pet for a long time, when you release it it's natural instincts will prevail and it'll fend for itself. After all, it doesn't really even know it's been in captivity! =) And since you've been keeping it outside with the other tortoise, then apparently the climate doesn't harm it.

And no, more than likely (no matter how much they like each other) they will wander off in different directions. But who knows! Maybe they'll secretly meet up at midnights for a kiss and some fooling around! =P

    *hugs*

  3. Alright maybe some research would be a good Idea to see if the kind of tortoise you have will survive where you live use Google. Good Luck =D
