what is a good cheap wood to make a tortoise table 4.5 ft x 4 ft x 1.5 ft

  1. With reinforcements underneath, you can use a relatively thin plywood. Ideally, you'll use marine grade so it resists water.

    4.5x4 is kinda small for an adult tortoise- even the smaller species are recommended in an 8x4, so think about future expansions.


  2. What I did for my tortoise is I found some wood, any wood and then coated the inside of the tortoise table pond lining, just black pond lining from Home Depot. Staple gunned it to the bottom and the sides of the inside of the tortoise table and then put a substrate on the bottom and this way if any water comes through the substrate then the ling catches it instead of going through the cracks in the wood so there isn't any leakage. What I put in my tortoise table is a carpet covered ramp going to a platform they love to bask on. =D Good Luck!
