Toscana Crossing to host night golf fundraiser
The tournament traditionally kicks off in daylight but this time it will try its luck under the stars.
An event by the name of ‘Night Golf under the full moon’ is in the pipeline for January 2011. The one of its kind tournament will take place at the Toscana Crossing, 7406 St. Andrews Blvd, North of Weeki Wachee, Oklahoma. The expected date for the event is 19th January.
The registration for the three-day event will start on 22nd December at 6 p.m. and will continue until 6.30 pm on the big day. There are separate charges for non-members of the club. They will pay $16 for the walk and $20 for a cart, whereas the members will enjoy a $4 discount on both these facilities.
However, the fee has to be paid at the time of registration for ticket confirmation. The same fee will include the play, balls, and prizes. Moreover, there are limited numbers of tickets available and the maximum limit allowed at the event is 72.
Participants are allowed to come in the form of couples, singles or foursomes but they will have to get them registered beforehand. Spouses are not allowed on the field but they are allowed in the welcome party after the event winds up.
Most importantly, golfers have been requested to carry their own flashlights or any form of luminous material for light purpose. But cell phones with torches are prohibited during the match. Food will be allowed during the match and the bar will remain open for the night.
The purpose of such a unique event is to promote the course and generate funds for a new teeing area, which is under construction.
Speaking to the press, the general manager of Toscana Crossing said, "Some 72 golfers will come to Toscana and we are expecting a good response. No one has ever seen an event like this before, especially in Oklahoma, so we are trying to make it happen”.
Toscana Crossing is ready to initiate a new kind of golf, although it is practically impossible to putt in poor light conditions.
